The proposed project involves building a new 13-mile to 18-mile, single-circuit, 138-kV transmission line to connect the existing Mustang Prairie substation to the proposed Weldon substation, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department said.
The cost of building the project is about $1.2bn, and the initial year’s operating expenses for the project are estimated to be about $41m, Vermont state regulators said, adding that the project will be privately developed and financed as a merchant facility by TDI New England and its owner, the Blackstone Group.
Minnesota Power is pleased that the ALJ recommended the PUC approve in large part the company’s proposed “Blue Route” for the Minnesota portion of the 500-kV transmission project, a utility spokesperson told TransmissionHub Jan. 5
The Missouri PSC adjusted the procedural schedule for consideration of Ameren’s $224m Mark Twain transmission project, with reply briefs due to be filed in March, while Ameren had been hoping for a PSC decision by Jan. 31.
Staff noted that the existing 69-kV line cannot be de-energized between the months of June and August 2017, meaning that the construction of the project must begin by next October to meet the desired in-service date of June 1, 2018.
New York State Electric & Gas, in its October 2015 motion, requested that state regulators hold in abeyance the Article VII proceeding to consider the construction of 11.1 miles of new 115-kV transmission line through Columbia County, pending the success or failure of a proposed alternative to the original proposal.
