West Shackelford to Navarro Sam Switch is a 192-mile, 345 kV transmission line that originates at West Shackelford and terminates at the Sam Switchyard in Navarro County, Texas. The project, sponsored by Lone Star Transmission, costs $410.5m (compared to its original budget of $386m). Construction commenced in November 2011 and was completed February 25, 2013. The final in-service date was March 31, 2013. The project will enable the increased flow of wind energy from western Texas to high load areas in the eastern part of the state.
