The Tehachapi Segments 3B provides an open avenue to tap renewable energy sources in order to meet state RPS goals. The project involved about 10 miles of 220 kV transmission between the Mohave area and a substation east of Tehapachi and was energized December 2012. The Highwind substation and connection to Windhub are a part of the project intended to meet interconnection needs by Renewable Generators. The project was estimated to cost $50 Million.
