The Tallgrass project was conceived to enable renewable energy connections in the area. The project was sponsored by a joint venture between Oklahoma Gas & Electric and the Electric Transmission of America a joint venture of AEP and MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company. The project was suspended when AEP and MidAmerican announced in December 2012 that Electric Transmission of America would not develop any new projects. At that time Oklahoma Gas & Electric opted to not move forward with the project on it’s own.
