Southern Columbia Electric Transmission Line Project is a combination of 161-kV and 69-kV lines extending from 10 miles to 15 miles depending on the route selected. New lines will be needed to connect the new Mill Creek substation to the existing Perche Creek, Grindstone, and McBaine substations. The project was originally estimated to cost $26.3 million. However, recent orders have proposed building the project underground which would increase the cost to nearly $98m. The project will provide the capacity needed for electric load growth in the future as well as improved reliability.
