The Skiffes Creek to Whealton 230kV Line is an 20-mile line running from the proposed Skiffes Creek Switching Station south to the existing Whealton Substation. Total costs of the Chickahominy to Skiffes Creek, Skiffes Creek to Whealton transmission lines and the Skiffes Creek Switching Station are estimated to be between $150.6 million. Of the estimated total cost, about $56.3 million is for the Surry to Skiffes Creek Line construction; about $46.4 million is for the Skiffes Creek to Whealton Line construction; and about $47.9 million is for the Skiffes Creek Switching Station construction and other substation work. This project will supply needed capacity to serve the local area and critical military facilities; support local growth and economic development in central and eastern Virginia; and provide reliability improvements for fewer service interruptions and shorter duration when an outage does occur.
