Shawboro to Aydlett

The Shawboro to Aydlett project involves a new 230-kV line from the Shawboro substation to a tie on the Shawboro to Kitty Hawk line — a point near the tap that serves Aydlett substation. The cost of the project was $31.3m — the majority ($30.8m) to cover line costs and an additional $596,000 for substation improvements. The project was needed to add capacity to the 230-kV system in the area to assure reliable service.  The line was energized in April 2015.  The new line was constructed with single-circuit weathering steel monopole structures.
