RTI Westside Tie 345 kV

The RTI Westside Tie 345 kV is a 141-mile 345 kV line originating at the Tracy 345 kV substation east of Reno NV and terminating at the Amargosa 500 kV substation. Construction is expected to begin in 2013 and be completed in 2015. The project will allow the export of renewable energy to California and the Desert Southwest. On July 27, 2012, NV Energy announced that it has dropped plans to build a set of power lines including the REI Westside Tie, to help export renewable energy to California because of a lack of interest from renewable developers.
