The $361m, 345-kV R Project transmission line from NPPD is part of an effort to enhance regional reliability, relieve congestion and provide carrying capacity for additional renewable energy projects in Nebraska. The line originates at NPPD’s Gerald Gentleman Station near Sutherland, runs north to Cherry County and then east to the Holt/Antelope County line where it will tie into an existing 345-kV transmission line owned by the Western Area Power Administration. The total length of the project is estimated at 220 miles and is expected to be complete by 2020.
