
The Ponderosa to Grimes transmission project is a planned 230-kV tranmission line near Conroe, TX, which will originate at the Ponderosa substation and terminate at Grimes substation. In addtion to the line, the project also consists of expanding the existing Grimes sbustation as well as a new 230/138-kV transformer at the Pondersoa substation. The PUCT (Public Utilities Commission of Texas) approved the CCN (Certificate of Convenience and Necessity) for the project in September, 2014. The project is needed to meet growing demand in oil and gas producing areas of southeast Texas. As of July 28, 2016, this projhect has been completed at a cost of $63M.
