New England Clean Power Link

Transmission Developers, Inc. is planning on building a new, HVDC line between the United States/Canadian border to Ludlow, Vermont. The line would run approximately 100 mile south from the border with a combination of the route being underground and buried along the bottom of Lake Champlain. The line would then turn east for approximately 50 miles where it would plug into the New England grid system. The final route has not been set and the developers continue to evaluate potential utility right of ways. The project is being financed primary from private investors at an initial estimated cost of $1.2bn. The project would deliver over 1000 MW of clean hydro power to the New England market.
