The Motley Area project involves 14 miles of 115-kV line construction between the Dog Lake substation and a new substation proposed substation by Crow Wing Power at Fish Trap Lake. The location of the new substation is near the proposed Minnesota Pipe Line project. The line is needed for reliability and to meet economic growth in the region. Permitting will commence later this year and run through 2015. Great River expects easement acquisition, line design plans, and environmental permits during 2016. Construction will commence late 2016 with completion expected in late 2017.
