Montrose-Nucla-Cahone Improvement Project

Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association is planning on rebuilding an existing transmission corridor in southwest Colorado. Named the Montrose–Nucla–Cahone Transmission Improvement Project, this upgrade would include replacing the 115-kV line with a new single-circuit 230-kV line. The line would span approximately 80 miles interconnecting the Montrose, Nucla and Cahone substations along wood H-frame structures. The total cost of the project is estimated at $92m. The in-service date is October 2018.
