The Michigan Thump Loop Project includes a 140-mile line, 345-kV double-circuit transmission line and four new substations. The line originates from Tuscola County, Mich., and ends in Huron County, Mich. The transmission project will be capable of supporting a maximum capacity of about 5,000 MW. ITC energized the first phase, comprising 62 miles on Sept. 27, 2013. The remainder was energized mid-May 2015. ITC Holdings Corp. subsidiary International Transmission Co d/b/a ITCTransmission will own and operate the project. The company received a siting certificate for its Thumb Loop project from the Michigan Public Service Commission in February 2011.
