Merritt Area Transmission Project is a 23-mile, 138-kV transmission line between the Merritt and Highland substations – mostly along existing unused BC Hydro right-of-way. In addition, BC Hydro will upgrade the Merritt Substation and add new equipment to the Highland Substation. The project is estimated to cost between C$58m and C$66m. Right-of-way preparation and construction of the transmission line began in 2013. Project was completed in October 2015.
