The Lake Charles Transmission Project involves seven miles of a new 500-kV transmission line that will cut into an existing 500-kV line and terminate at the Carlyss substation. In addition, the project also includes eighteen miles of new 230-kV transmission line between the new substation planned in Lake Charles and the Carlyss substation. The project is estimated to cost $159m and will is being built to bring power more reliably and efficiently into the region. Construction began in October 2016 and will be completed in February 2018. Irby Construction is providing construction services on this project under subcontract by Dashiell Engineering.
