Ignace to Pickle Lake Phase I

Phase I of the Ignace to Pickle Lake transmission project is a 300-km (186-mile), single-circuit 230-kV transmission line from originating from an existing line long the TransCanada Highway and terminating at Pickle Lake. This is the first phase of a two phase project involving more than C$1.2 billion investment.  The project is being sponsored by Morgan Geare and two of Ontario’s First Nations.  The project will provide reliable power and capacity for existing grid communities (Mishkeegogamang, Cat Lake, Slate Falls and Pickle Lake), existing industry (e.g. Musselwhite Mine), future industry (e.g. Ring of Fire), and a connection point for remote First Nation communities. Phase I is expected to be in service in 2020
