The Hanna Region Transmission Development involves a 240-km (149-mile) 240-kV transmission line that originates at Cordel and terminates at Hansman Lake, Alberta. The project also involves nearly 110-km (68.2 miles) of new 144-kV transmission lines. The project, which is sponsored by ATCO Electric, was estimated to cost $764 million. Bechtel provided project and construction management services. The project includes a new 240/144 kV substation near Hardisty with a 240 kV double circuit line connecting the new substation with the 240 kV line between Cordel and Hansman Lake. Also, it includes a double 240 kV circuit from Anderson to Oyen and north to Hansman Lake. The project was complete August 2013.
