Eversource is proposing to construct a new 115-kilovolt (kV) overhead transmission line and related substation improvements to bring the electric supply system in northwest Connecticut into compliance with national and regional reliability standards. The new 10.4-mile line would traverse the towns Watertown, Thomaston, Litchfield, and Harwinton to connect Eversource’s Frost Bridge Substation in Watertown with its Campville Substation in Harwinton. Two existing 115-kV lines that cross the Naugatuck River will also be reconfigured. Currently, these lines are jointly supported on common transmission structures. The reconfiguration will allow each line to be supported by its own set of structures thereby increasing system reliability. Start of construction is expected in Q3 2017, with in service Q4 2018.
