
Energy Gateway Project is a 2000-mile, 500-kV transmission line, which is jointly proposed by Idaho Power and Rocky Mountain Power a division of PacifiCorp. The project is needed to meet load growth, provide increased reliability, increase transfer capability between the east and west control area, facilitate delivery of power and provide greater operational flexibility. It involves a mixture of 500 kV and 345 kV lines. The first major portion of the project, Populus to Terminal was placed in service in late 2010. The next section, Mona to Oquirrh started construction in 2011.
