Cloverdale-Lexington 500-kV Rebuild (Appalachian Power)

The Cloverdale-Lexington rebuild is a joint project between Appalachian Power and Dominion Virginia Power for an existing 500-kV line that spans both service territories. APP’s portion of the line consist of replacing approximately 36 miles of aging transmission line within the existing right of way. The project also includes replacing nine towers, adding three towers and replacing all existing conductors. APP’s portion of the project is expected to cost $40m and is scheduled to be complete by June 2016. Construction could begin by June 2014.
