The Clay to GE #14 Reconductoring Project involves six miles of double and single circuit 115-kV transmission upgrades between the towns of Clay and Salina within Onondaga County, N.Y. One mile of which is double-circuited, leading to replacement of seven miles of existing conductor with new, higher rated conductor. The project also involves the replacement of up to 48 structures, installation of one new structure, removal of three structures and upgrades to 22 additional structures. The project is necessary to increase the thermal rating to support increased reliability in the area. Construction is set to begin in August, 2014, with a targeted completion of in mid-2015.
