Church-Wye Mills Transmission Project

Delmarva Power and Light is planning a new 138kv line between the Church substation in Millington, MD, and Wye Mills substation in Wye Mills, MD. The current 69kv single overhead line will be replaced by the planned higher voltage on a double circuit tranmission line on more durable, single steel poles running approximately 26 miles. The project is designed to improve service reliability on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, with focus on Queen, Anne’s, Talbot and Caroline counties. Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2014 with an in service date of June 2015. Estiamted costs put the project at nearly $31.3 million.
