Brown to Newton Line is a 96-mile, 345-kV transmission line beginning at the Brown Switching Station located in Brown County and ending at the Newton Switching Station located in Lampasas County, Texas. The project, which is sponsored by Oncor Electric Delivery Co., — estimated to cost $157 million. The project was completed in December 2012. With the cancellation of the Gillespie to Newton line, Oncor determined that the Newton Switching Station was no longer necessary to the CREZ project. This change will result in the Brown-Newton and Newton-Killeen Projects becoming a continuous double circuit line from Brown to Killeen, Texas.
