Bipole III Project

Bipole III Project is a 858-mile (1384-km), 500-kV HVDC transmission line that originates at Riel Converter station and terminates at Keewatinoow Converter station, Manitoba, Canada. The project, proposed by Manitoba Hydro, is scheduled to start construction in 2013 and be completed in August 2018. Bipole III is a proposed new high voltage direct current transmission project required to improve overall system reliability and dependability. The project includes the HVDC transmission line, energy conversion facilities, and system connections. New 230-kV AC transmission lines will be required to connect the new Keewatinoow converter station near the proposed Conawapa site to the existing Henday Converter Station and Long Spruce Generating Station in northern Manitoba.
