The Antelope Valley Station to Neset project, owned and operated by BEPC, involves a new 200-mile, 345-kV single pole transmission line. The project also involves two new substations, modifications at four substations, a 345-kV switchyard and other construction activities. The project will stretch across six western North Dakota counties. The line is being proposed as a result of increased demand in the Williston region. The new line will serve much of the new oil development in the region as well as address stability and reliability concerns. In 2011, the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA), and the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) announced they would jointly prepare an EIS for this project, as proposed by Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC). Construction is set to start Fall 2014.
