(Nov. 18, 2019) — On Nov. 25, Basin Electric Power Cooperative will be issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) for solar and wind power proposals in the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) and Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) Zone 1 or 3.
Basin Electric will be seeking, potentially, up to 400-500 megawatts (MW) of solar generation in SPP and MISO with no more than 200 MW of solar generation in MISO. Basin Electric will also consider additional wind generation offers in either SPP or MISO.
Basin Electric continues to need additional resources to meet its forecasted load obligations and supports an all-of-the-above resource alternative approach to meet those obligations. Through the RFP, Basin Electric is looking for economically priced renewable resources to potentially add to its growing diversified resource portfolio.
Documents associated with the RFP will be posted on Basin Electric’s public website, basinelectric.com, by Nov. 25.
The notice of intent to bid will be due to Basin Electric on Dec. 4, 2019.
Proposals received prior to Dec. 23, 2019, will be considered under this Solar and Wind RFP.
