ATSI: Public informational meeting to be held Nov. 12 in Ohio regarding 138-kV line

The company said that it will file an application for a certificate of environmental compatibility and public need for the proposed line in mid-February 2020

FirstEnergy’s American Transmission Systems, Incorporated (ATSI) on Oct. 24 filed with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio a preapplication notification letter noting its proposed improvements to the transmission and sub-transmission systems in Mahoning County, Ohio.
If approved and built, the Lincoln Park-Riverbend 138-kV Transmission Line Project would result in improvements to the resiliency, overall efficiency, and operational flexibility of those systems, the company said.
The project would entail a new, approximately six-mile, 138-kV transmission line extending from the existing Lincoln Park substation to the existing Riverbend substation. ATSI added that the two substations are proposed to be expanded to facilitate the installation of new equipment.
The project would be located in northeastern Mahoning County, in the City of Youngstown, the company said, adding that route alternatives under consideration traverse Campbell Township and Youngstown.
ATSI said that a public informational meeting for the proposed project has been scheduled for Nov. 12 in Youngstown.
The company said that it will file an application for a certificate of environmental compatibility and public need for the proposed line in mid-February 2020.
