FirstEnergy’s (NYSE:FE) American Transmission Systems, Incorporated (ATSI) on Aug. 28 said that a public informational meeting for the proposed Wood County 138-kV Reinforcement Project will be held on Sept. 26 in Bowling Green, Ohio.
As noted in the Aug. 28 pre-application notification letter that ATSI filed with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, the project involves improvements to the transmission and sub-transmission systems in Wood County, Ohio.
If approved and built, the project would result in improvements to the resiliency, overall efficiency, and operational flexibility of those systems, the company said.
The project – which would be located in northwestern Wood County – involves a new approximately 5.5-mile line extending from the existing Lemoyne-Midway 138-kV Transmission Line to the existing Brim substation. The company added that route alternatives under consideration traverse Middleton, Center, and Plain townships, as well as a portion of the City of Bowling Green.
ATSI said that it will file an application for a certificate of environmental compatibility and public need for the proposed line in mid-December, and that it plans to file a letter of notification application at a later date for the related proposed expansion of the Brim substation to support the project.
