According to Mid-Kansas Electric Company, the project includes 58.9 miles of new line from Harper to Milan; 12.6 miles of new line from Harper to Rago; 5.8 miles of rebuilt line between Milan and the Viola tie; and the new connection to Westar’s Viola substation.
A company spokesperson on July 10 told TransmissionHub that the company does not have a cost estimate for the project at this time, and that the project is still in a preliminary planning phase.
According to the stipulation, the recommended conditions of the certificate include that the facility is to be installed on the applicant’s alternate route, which, as TransmissionHub reported, has an estimated total cost of about $24.1m.
State regulators said that they amend Garland’s certificate of convenience and necessity number 30063 to include the proposed transmission line using the settlement route.
