Southwest Power Pool files GIA for 301-MW Thunderhead Wind project

The Southwest Power Pool filed on Jan. 10 with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission an executed Generator Interconnection Agreement with the Thunderhead Wind Energy LLC affiliate of Invenergy LLC and interconnecting transmission owner Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD).

Thunderhead plans to construct a 300.72-MW wind facility, which will consist of 168 General Electric 1.79-MW wind turbine generators. The point of interconnection for this project will be the 345-kV bus at NPPD’s Holt County 345-kV Substation.

The project’s commercial operation target date is Dec. 1, 2020.
