North Carolina commission approves 5-MW Old Road Solar project

The North Carolina Utilities Commission on Jan. 10 approved a December 2015 application from the Old Road Solar LLC affiliate of FLS Energy for a certificate of public convenience and necessity on a 4.99-MW (ac) solar photovoltaic facility.

This project is to be located off Mt. Herman Church Road, approximately 0.8 miles from the intersection of Mt. Herman Church Road and Mayfield Road, at Ruffin in Rockingham County, North Carolina. The applicant plans to sell the electricity generated by this facility to Duke Energy Carolinas.

The original application had a projected on-line for the facility of Oct. 15, 2016.
