Dominion Virginia Power is proposing to shift the existing station footprint within company-owned property in order to rebuild and rearrange the Idylwood station from a straight bus arrangement to a breaker-and-a-half arrangement using Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) bus and breakers, according to the SCC’s order.
Staff recommended that the Arkansas Public Service Commission grant a requested 500-foot variance in order to accommodate legitimate concerns and objections of property owners, whose land is being traversed, provided, for instance, that such deviations or adjustments do not adversely affect other landowners.
AEP Ohio Transco said that, if the project is approved, it plans to begin construction of the transmission line in late 2017 or early 2018, and that the project has an estimated in-service date of summer 2019.
The voltage of the project – which is planned to be in service in December 2021 – would be 500-kV, single or double circuit, and it may also include 230 kV, according to Southwest Transmission Partners, LLC.
The substation property for the project was purchased, American Transmission Company said in a recent quarterly progress report, adding that detail design activities continued, and procurement activity was completed.
In a statement provided to TransmissionHub on Jan. 27, Acting Chairman Cheryl LaFleur said, "The commission is working to get as many orders out as possible, to maximize the time we have with Norman Bay here."
In a Jan. 24 report filed with Wisconsin regulators, American Transmission Company said that a biological assessment of federally listed species is being prepared and will be submitted in February.
