Southwest Power Pool files interconnect for NextEra’s 160-MW Sholes Wind project

The Southwest Power Pool on Dec. 20 filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission an executed Generator Interconnection Agreement with Sholes Wind Energy LLC and interconnecting transmission owner Nebraska Public Power District.

Sholes Wind Energy plans to construct a 160-MW facility, consisting of 80 General Electric 2.0 MW wind turbine generators. The Sholes GIA provides for the interconnection of the facility to NPPD’s transmission system. The point of interconnection will be the 345 kV bus at NPPD’s Hoskins Substation, which is located near Hoskins, Nebraska.

The targeted commercial operation date under the GIA is Dec. 31, 2019.
