The North Carolina Utilities Commission on Dec. 13 approved an Oct. 10 application from the Breeden Solar LLC affiliate of Cypress Creek Renewables for a certificate of public convenience and necessity on a 75-MW (ac) facility that will be located along Airport Road, south of G.R. Kindley Fwy., in Hamlet, Richmond County, North Carolina.
The Breeden Solar facility is projected to come on-line as of Sep. 1, 2018. The facility owner plans to sell the electricity to Duke Energy Progress under a power purchase agreement. The service life of the project is expected to be approximately 35 years. The projected annual sales of the $141.8 million facility are expected to be about 155,244,000 kWh.
Said the Dec. 13 commission approval: “After careful consideration, the Commission finds good cause to approve the application and issue the attached certificate for the proposed solar photovoltaic electric generating facility. The Commission further finds good cause, based upon the foregoing and the entire record in this proceeding, to accept registration of the facility as a new renewable energy facility.”
