German company seeks approval for solar project in Alberta

KS Canada 3 Ltd., a 100% subsidiary of Kronos Solar Projects GmbH, applied Dec. 9 to the Alberta Utilities Commission for approval of a 9.9-MW solar project.

Kronos Solar is a photovoltaic (PV) park developer with head offices based in Munich, Germany. The project site is situated north of the Village of Veteran. The site consists of lower grades of farmland. It is called the Veteran Solar Park.

The project basics are:

  • Total capacity 9.9 MVA;
  • Sixteen 630 kVA Inverters with reduced output of 619 kVA each;
  • Eight LV/MV transformers with a capacity of 1,238 kVA each; and
  • 41,360 photovoltaic solar panels, 270 W each, total capacity 9.9 MVA.

The company said it wants to complete the commission approval process by the first quarter of 2017, with completion of grid connection and construction planned for 2018.
