Exelon takes Three Mile Island 1 offline for planned maintenance

Exelon (NYSE:EXC) operators took the Three Mile Island Unit 1 in Pennsylvania offline early Dec. 1 to perform planned maintenance on one of several pumps that provide water to the nuclear reactor.

This maintenance cannot be performed with the plant online, Exelon said in a Dec. 1 news release.

Three Mile Island is located 12 miles south of Harrisburg, in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The 800-MW (summer) plant produces enough carbon-free electricity for more than 800,000 homes.
