Carolina Solar Energy seeks okay for 40-MW Old Liberty Farm project

The Old Liberty Farm Solar LLC affiliate of Carolina Solar Energy LLC applied Dec. 28 at the North Carolina Utilities Commission for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity on a 40-MW (ac) photovoltaic solar generator to be located off Old Liberty Road outside the town of Franklinville in Randolph County, N.C.

The projected date is June 30, 2018, for the facility to come on-line. The plan is to sell all electricity to Duke Energy Carolinas under a power purchase agreement. This is a $70 million project.
