Bitter cold expected in Plains, wintry weather in many areas

An arctic cold front will bring wind chills of -20 degrees or colder across the northern Plains this week, according to the National Weather Service.

This arctic air will push through the Plains and into the Ohio/Tennessee Valleys towards the mid-Atlantic and Northeast by Thursday. Meanwhile, a series of Pacific storm systems will bring heavy rain and high-elevation snow to the West through the weekend.
