North Carolina commission okays NARENCO’s 5-MW Tyler Solar project

Solar developer NARENCO won a Nov. 14 approval from the North Carolina Utilities Commission on the Aug. 16 application from its Tyler Solar LLC affiliate for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity authorizing construction of a 5-MW (ac) solar facility that will be located at 940 Lewis Street in Oxford, Granville County.

The facility at the time of the application was projected to come on-line in December 2016. Electricity generated would be sold to Duke Energy Progress as a Qualified Facility under a 15-year power purchase agreement. The estimated project cost is $14 million.
