North Carolina commission okays 5-MW Norris Solar Farm project

Approved Oct. 31 by the North Carolina Utilities Commission was an application from the Norris Solar Farm LLC affiliate of ESA Renewables for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity on a 5-MW (ac) solar project to be located at 1865 US 70 Highway, Mebane, Alamance County.

Said the Oct. 31 order: “After careful consideration, the Commission finds good cause to approve the application and issue the attached certificate for the proposed solar photovoltaic electric generating facility.”

The projected date for the $12.35 million facility to come on-line is Dec. 31, 2017. The intended customer for the power is Duke Energy Carolinas.
