North Carolina commission okays 3-MW ESA Solar Farm NC project

The North Carolina Utilities Commission on Oct. 31 approved a Sept. 13 application from ESA Solar Farm NC LLC for a certificate of public convenience and necessity for construction of a 3-MW (ac) solar photovoltaic facility to be located on Lanier Road, approximately 0.33 miles north of the intersection of Main Street and Lanier Road, Norwood, Stanly County, North Carolina.

The applicant plans to sell the electricity generated by this facility to Duke Energy Carolinas, the commission noted. The projected on-line date for the project is Dec. 30, 2017. This is a $7.41 million project.
