A project company associated with Geenex was approved Oct. 31 by the North Carolina Utilities Commission for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity on a 5-MW (ac) solar project.
South Hertford Solar LLC on Aug. 18 had sought a certificate on a 5-MW (ac) project to be located 0.3 miles northeast of the intersection of Pender Rd and Wynne Fork Rd, which is approximately 2.6 miles southeast of the city of Hertford in Perquimans County. The facility is projected to come on-line in June 2017. The projected annual sales of the $14 million facility are 10,725,000 kWh. The Intended customer is Dominion North Carolina Power.

Also approved Oct. 31 by the commission was an Aug. 18 application from Geenex’s Loblolly Pine Solar LLC for a certificate on a 5-MW (ac) project to be located 0.6 miles southeast of the intersection of Ocean Hwy S and Wynne Ford, which is approximately one mile southeast of the city of Hertford in Perquimans County. The $14 million facility is projected to come on-line in June 2017. Electricity generated will be sold to Dominion North Carolina Power under a fifteen-year power purchase agreement. The projected annual sales are 10,750,000 kWh.
