Cypress Creek seeks North Carolina nod on 80-MW Gideon Solar project

The Gideon Solar LLC affiliate of Cypress Creek Renewables applied Nov. 28 at the North Carolina Utilities Commission for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity on an 80-MW (ac) facility that will be located along Taylors Gin Road, north of Duke Road, in Castalia, Nash County, North Carolina.

The facility is projected to come on line as of June 1, 2019. The facility owner plans to sell the electricity to Duke Energy Progress pursuant to a power purchase agreement.

The service life of the $151.2 million project is expected to be approximately 35 years. The projected annual sales of the facility are expected to be about 161,805,500 kWh.
