Strata Solar wins North Carolina approval for 5-MW Buchanan Farm project

Buchanan Farm LLC was approved Oct. 31 by the North Carolina Utilities Commission for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity authorizing construction of a 5-MW (ac) solar facility to be located in Harnett County.

The facility is to be located at the end of Danna Street, south of Harnett Central Road (also known as State Road 2215), and east of the intersection of Harnett Central Road (also known as State Road 2215) and NC Highway 210, near Angier, Harnett County.

The $14 million facility is projected to come on-line in September 2017, said the Aug. 18 application for this certificate. Electricity generated will be sold to Duke Energy Progress under a 15-year power purchase agreement. The projected annual sales of the facility are 9,000,000 kWh.
