North Carolina commission okays 20-MW Wadesboro Solar project

Wadesboro Solar LLC was approved Oct. 25 by the North Carolina Utilities Commission on its May 3 application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity on a 20-MW (ac) solar photovoltaic project to be located at 275 Allen Pond Road, at Wadesboro in Anson County, N.C.

The project will consist of roughly 83,520 solar modules structures and equipment wired in series and parallel, feeding to a combiner box that comprising the generating reroutes electricity into eight 2,750 KW inverters where facility and the manner of its electricity is transformed form DC to AC.

The projected date for the facility to come on-line was, at the time of application, Sept. 30, 2016. The expected cost of the proposed facility $60 million. The developer plans to sell this power under contract to Duke Energy Progress.
