FLS Energy wins North Carolina nod on 45.5-MW Ruff Solar project

The North Carolina Utilities Commission on Oct. 4 approved a May 2015 application, amended in August 2015, from Ruff Solar LLC seeking a certificate of public convenience and necessity for construction of a 45.5-MW (ac) solar facility to be located at 1400 Ellenboro Henrietta Road, three miles south of Ellenboro, Rutherford County, North Carolina.

The applicant plans to sell the electricity to Duke Energy Carolinas. The application was filed by FLS Energy. FLS is a solar energy developer, installer, and owner-operator headquartered in Asheville, N.C.

The Ruff Solar facility will produce 83,487,328 kilowatt hours in year one with an industry standard 0.5% annual degradation factor throughout the life of the project.
