Sunflower Wind Project LLC won an Oct. 26 approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission of a Market-Based Rate Tariff for its 104-MW (nameplate) wind facility in Stark and Morton counties, North Dakota.
It was anticipated at the time of the Sept. 8 application that the facility would be ready to commence production of test power in October 2016 and would achieve commercial operation by the end of 2016.
The facility will be interconnected to the transmission system owned by the Western Area Power Administration, Upper Great Plains East (WAUE), and operated by the Southwest Power Pool (SPP). The entire output is fully committed under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for firm sales of energy and capacity. The PPA is with Basin Electric Power Cooperative for 100% of the output of the facility for a 25-year term.
The company is part of Sunflower Renewables LLC, which is a wholly-owned direct subsidiary of Sunflower Renewable Holdings 2 LLC, which in turn is a wholly-owned direct subsidiary of Novatus Project Holdings I LLC, a wholly-owned direct subsidiary of Novatus Energy LLC.
