Lincoln Clean Energy (LCE) has selected E.ON Energy Services to provide asset management and balance of plant services for its Amazon Wind Farm Texas located near Snyder, Texas.
The 253-MW facility will sell 90% of the power generated to on-line retailer Amazon under a long-term contract.
“Complementing LCE resources with subject matter experts is a key part of our growth plan and E.ON was an obvious choice given their extensive operating experience in Texas wind power,” said Declan Flanagan, CEO of LCE, in an Oct. 13 statement.
“We are excited to be working with Lincoln as they look to expand. As an owner, we understand the challenges these long-term projects face, and we want to bring our ‘Service with An Owner’s Eye’ philosophy to the Amazon Wind Farm Texas facility,” E.ON North American Chairman Patrick Woodson said. “Our partners choose E.ON Energy Services because they know we have the breadth of experience to deliver high quality, safety-focused services to operate their assets with a focus on the bottom line.”
The agreement with Lincoln Clean Energy is the latest in E.ON Energy Services’ portfolio. Last month, E.ON signed an agreement with Novatus Energy to manage four of its wind farms, totaling more than 700 MW across three states.
E.ON is one of the world’s largest generators of renewable energy, and has invested more than $12 billion globally in wind and solar projects over the last decade. E.ON manages, owns, and/or operates wind farms in seven states and in nearly every major ISO.
Lincoln Clean Energy had announced on Oct. 3 that it has committed 100% of the sponsor equity for Amazon Wind Farm Texas. The facility will use 110 General Electrict urbines to generate more than 1,000,000 megawatt hours of green electricity annually. Commercial operations are expected to begin in October 2017.
E.ON SE is an international investor-owned energy supplier and will in the future be focusing entirely on energy networks, customer solutions and renewables. Around 33 million customers purchase gas and electricity from E.ON. E.ON is headquartered in Essen, Germany.
Lincoln Clean Energy is a leading developer of U.S. wind and solar projects with offices in Chicago and Austin, Texas. Since 2011, LCE has developed over 1,000 MW of renewable power projects in California, New Jersey and Texas. In December 2015, LCE was acquired and became a portfolio company of I Squared Capital, through its ISQ Global Infrastructure Fund, and announced plans to deploy $250 million in equity investments through 2018.
