Cypress Creek seeks North Carolina nod on 75-MW Mount Moriah Solar project

The Mount Moriah Solar LLC affiliate of Cypress Creek Renewables on Oct. 11 applied with the North Carolina Utilities Commission for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity on a 75-MW (ac) project.

The photovoltaic facility will be located along Mt. Moriah Church Road, near the intersection with County Line Road, in Hamlet, Richmond County, North Carolina.

The facility is projected to come on-line as of Sept. 1, 2018. he facility owner plans to sell the electricity to Duke Energy Progress pursuant to a power purchase agreement. The service life of the $141.8 million project is expected to be approximately 35 years. The projected annual sales are expected to be about 155,232,000 kWh.

Attached to the application are bios of the Cypress Creek officers, including Matthew McGovern, Chief Executive Officer. As CEO of Cypress Creek Renewables, he oversees all business operations and investor relations for the company. He has 15 years of industry, finance, and operational executive experience. Prior to forming Cypress, McGovern served as the CFO of Paramount Solar.
